About Us
Rainbow Cammo was founded by a queer Marine and clinical scientist who combined a love of chemistry, fragrance, and queer joy into a handcrafted bath and body brand like no other. What started as a side hustle has grown into a full-blown small business with a mission: to make high-quality products that celebrate authenticity, resilience, and community.
Our small-batch process blends science and artistry to create premium soaps, beard care, candles, and skincare using ingredients that are thoughtfully chosen for both performance and sustainability. Every product is handcrafted with intention—no shortcuts, no filler, just formulas that work and feel incredible.

My Journey: from military to #SoapDaddy
enlisted from 2010-2014
After graduating from high school in a small rural town, I made a
decision that would forever shape my perspective and resilience: I
enlisted in the Marines, determined to push myself far beyond
what most people see as possible. I’ve never been one to take the easy
route, and joining the military during the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” era
brought even bigger challenges—but I leaned into them, seeking a broader
worldview and the grit to overcome adversity. That sense of strength,
courage, and integrity has guided every step of my journey since then,
inspiring me to build Rainbow Cammo on those same values of intention
and perseverance.
Navigating Challenges and Finding Purpose (2014–2018)
I worked in credit and collections, sharpening the business acumen that
now underpins Rainbow Cammo’s operations. This chapter taught me
everything from managing cash flow to handling negotiations and building
resilience in tough markets. During the first Trump administration,
political maneuvering led to non-renewed contracts—when the Secretary of Education kept an agency she was personally invested in, I almost lost
everything. Facing that crossroads wasn’t easy, but it became my turning
point: realizing a greater purpose, I chose to return to school and
finish my degree in clinical lab science. That decision set me on a new
path—one that focused my analytical propensity with rigorous science.
This background in STEM is what makes Rainbow Cammo soaps stand out, the art is in the chemistry.
Graduated December 2021
In 2021 I completed my clinical lab science degree and then earned board
certification, laying a rigorous scientific foundation for Rainbow
Cammo. My first roles in microbiology and then blood banking sharpened
precision, quality control, and safety—skills that directly powered
cleaner, safer formulas. The pandemic sparked a creative pivot: while
studying, I began turning chemistry knowledge into handmade soap, a
hobby that grew into a business with a genuine science-backed backbone.
from basement side hustle to main hustle:
In the early days, Rainbow Cammo began as a basement workshop fueled by
curiosity, discipline, and a notebook full of experiments. Each batch
was a learning step, a small refinement toward safer formulas, better
textures, and richer scents. Markets and pop-ups became living
laboratories where customer feedback mapped the path from hobby to
business.
Over time, the collection expanded from basics to a fuller line, with
constant attention to ethical sourcing, clean formulas, and transparent
storytelling. Regular market feedback helped shape formulations,
ingredient choices, and branding that speaks to trust and authenticity.
The evolution culminated in a move from the basement to a dedicated retail
and event space at Village Gate. This step wasn’t just about a bigger
storefront; it signified a commitment to accessibility, community
engagement, and direct customer connection—turning conversations into
collaborations, and curiosity into curated experiences.
Throughout the transformation, the core values stayed the same: rigorous quality,
thoughtful sourcing, and a readiness to iterate. The basement days
taught resilience; Village Gate marks the stage where craftsmanship
meets community on a larger stage.
Lastly, authenticity isn’t a vibe for Rainbow Cammo—it’s the standard. I
realized early on that there weren’t any soap scents that truly felt
like “me” which is how the signature leather smells came to be. That gap became the mission: craft scents and
formulations that reflect a genuine, personal identity, then invite
everyone to experience them. Every bar and bottle is built to feel like
it was designed by someone who understands the power of scent to evoke
memory, mood, and place so every customer can find a scent that
resonates with their own story. This commitment to authentic experience
drives our product development, packaging, and the customer journey from that first sniff to daily use
