Our bespoke scent bar is a hands-on fragrance experience inside our Village Gate boutique in Rochester, NY — honestly one of the most fun, unexpectedly date-worthy things you can do in the city. Sit down one-on-one with Malcolm (yes, Soap Daddy himself), sniff your way through curated oils and accords, and blend a fragrance that's yours and yours alone — then wear it as an eau de parfum or body mist, or have it worked into a full lineup of bath, body and beard care, from body wash to beard oil. We mix it by hand, bottle it on the spot, and save your recipe so you can reorder the second you run out.
Come solo for a little self-care, bring a date, or roll in with your queer fam for a birthday or just-because celebration. No fragrance experience required — guiding you is the whole point.

What is the bespoke scent bar?
It's a hands-on, in-store fragrance experience at our Village Gate boutique in Rochester, NY. You work one-on-one with our maker to blend a fully custom scent, then choose how to wear it — as an eau de parfum or body mist — or have it worked into bath, body and beard care, and take it home the same day.
What's the difference between a scent design and a soap design session?
A Scent Design Session ($49.99 per blend, about an hour) creates a custom fragrance or scented grooming product you take home that day. A Soap Design Session ($229.99, all-inclusive) uses the same blending process, then adds colors and moisturizing components to make a custom 10-bar soap loaf, ready after a 4–6 week cure.
Is this a good activity for a date, a group, or by myself?
All three. It's a popular date-night idea, a fun small-group activity for birthdays and celebrations, and a lovely solo self-care treat. Planning a bigger group? Ask us about private parties.
Do I need any fragrance experience?
None at all. Our maker guides you through every step — smelling, choosing notes, and balancing — so first-timers leave with something they genuinely love.
How long does it take, and can I reorder later?
Plan for about an hour for a scent session. We save every recipe, so you can reorder your custom blend anytime — just name it and we'll recreate it.
